Christian Values in Athletics
The 2005 56er rocket football season was a great success. Each league team was split the head-to-head games with the other teams in the league. This was probably the most balanced league play we've ever had. In addition, our non-league games, the WMCAA teams had more wins than losses. Our teams represented themselves well within the league and outside the league.
The 2005 78er teams faced a major dilemma playing local school teams. The local school teams had separate 7th grade and 8th grade team. It was obvious what a huge difference there was between 7th and 8th grades when it came to size and abilities. We started by playing three 7th grade teams and handled all of them very easily (holding back to NOT run up the scores). Then we switched to 8th grade teams and were pretty well beaten for the next 4 games. For the last game of the season, in a great show of sportsmanship, the Caledonia teams combined their 8th grade second teams to play our Patriots. The Patriots were able to end their season on a positive note by being victorious against the Caledonia 8th grade second teams.
Is was a very fun season - and a great learning experience.
