
W.M.C.A.A. 2006 Football SUMMER CAMP
The camp has been completed and was a wonderful success.
Fifty (50) boys were signed up for camp - (many signed up several weeks into the camps)
Five (5) boys had perfect attendance (all 10 camps) and received $20 credit toward football registration, an official rocket football, a Summer Camp Tee-shirt and a large bag of goodies.
Eight (8) boys had excellent attendance (9/10 camps) and received $20 credit toward football registration, a Summer Camp Tee-shirt and a large bag of goodies.
Nine (9) boys had great attendance (8/10 camps) and received $20 credit toward football registration, a Summer Camp Tee-shirt and a bag of goodies.
Five (5) boys had good attendance (7/10 camps) and received $20 credit toward WMCAA football registration, a Summer Camp Tee-shirt and a bag of goodies.
Everyone that attended the last camp received a Summer Camp Tee-Shirt and some goodies.
If you missed it this year - be sure to sign up in March of next year. We had a great time of learning football basics, playing flag football, setting goals and just plain having FUN...

A coach will help to set at least 1 physical goal and at least one skills goal for each participant. These goals will be recorded in a notebook that the player is to take home and bring back to all subsequent camps. A coach will review and chart the students progress toward each of their goals. Example goals are shown below.
Grades and Ages: (Grades for the Fall)
56er - 5th and 6th grades less than 12 years old
(4th graders permitted depending on size, ability and maturity)
78er - 7th and 8th grades less than 14 years old
J.V. - 9th, 10th and 11th less than 17 years oldAttendance: Each player will be encouraged to attend ALL 10 Mini-Camps, if at all possible. To encourage this participation, attendance awards will be given for perfect attendance. In addition, any players that attend at least 7 of the 10 camps will have a portion of their camp fee go toward their 2006 WMCAA Football registration fee.
Cost: The cost of the camp will be $40 per student. This will include 10 mini-camps, Individual Goal setting with a coach, a notebook to track attendance, and progress toward goals. In addition, anyone attending at least 7 of the 10 camps will be given a $20 credit toward the 2006 WMCAA Football
Location: All camps are held at Douglas-Walker Park on 84th Street between Burlingame and Clyde Park in Byron Center.
Awards/Prizes: The following Awards/Prizes will be given:
Perfect Attendance (all 10 mini-camps)
Excellent Attendance (9 of 10 mini-camps)
Good Attendance (7 of 10 mini-camps)
Most progress on Individual Goals (This will be a judgment vote by coaches)
Conditioning: Summer Camp WILL NOT be conditioning. Conditioning may be set as a goal or activity towards a goal but actual conditioning will not occur during the summer camps.
Typical Mini-Camp: A typical evening of camp will include the following activities:
Stretching and minimal calisthenics (for the purpose of training)
Skills Drills (Kids will be separated by most applicable skill for them)
Goal Review and progress charting (Logged in their notebook)
A five minute Bible Truth concerning sports (non-denominational)
Fun Drills (opportunity to coach skills while having fun)
Individual skills coaching (as numbers permit coaches will work individually with players on skills like catching, blocking, snapping, punting, kicking, etc)
At least have the camps will end with a pickup flag football game.

Center / Snapping (shotgun, punts, kicks)
Punting and Kicking
Passing and footwork (Quarterbacks)
Catching and running routes
Blocking (Cross blocks, Traps, Pulling, pass blocking, etc)
Defensive rushing (Swim moves, stunts, slants, etc.)
Applicable Physical Goals:
Speed and agility
Quickness off the line
Strength and endurance
Exercise / stretching and flexibility
Weight loss
Being more active (work against the game station craze)
