Girls High School Volleyball

A person who is asked to coach a competitive team has every right to be given a clear understanding of what coaching entails. The following job descriptions will serve to introduce the coach to the broad spectrum of responsibilities she acquires before she begins practice.
Coaching develops skills beyond the fundamentals and combines the abilities of individuals into a team effort with the focus on enthusiastic competition in the spirit of fair play, good sportsmanship and friendship.
Coaching is teaching – in depth teaching of the fundamentals and advanced skills and strategies as the team develops.
Coaches are expected to serve as Godly examples by players, parents, and the organization in speech, behavior, and dress.
Varsity Head Coach
Responsible to: Volleyball Committee and the Board of the WMCAADuties:
Be responsible for all matters pertaining to the organization and administration of the coaching of the team under his/her direction. Enforce all rules of the volleyball committee, board, state and national association as they pertain to volleyball.
Cooperate with the volleyball committee, board, fellow coaches and students to promote the best interests of the entire athletic program.
Work with the volleyball committee in the appointment and dismissal of other coaches.
Coordinate coaching methods including conformity for warm-ups, practice drills, and game strategy.
Assume responsibility for conduct of volleyball players.
Assume responsibility for a group until all athletes are dressed and have left the building. Accompany and supervise the team to and from all contests.
Plan and supervise all practice sessions. Suggested length is not more than two hours. .
JV Head Coaches & Assistant Coaches
Responsible to: Head Coach, Volleyball Committee, Board of WMCAADuties:
Cooperate with the head coach, volleyball committee, and board in performing coaching duties.
Support the head coach in conducting the volleyball program.
Remain loyal to the head coach and to the teams. He/she may have to give up some of his /her own thoughts regarding team strategy, etc. to fit into the overall pattern as set forth by the head coach.
Plan and supervise all practice sessions.
Assume duties as assigned by the head coach.
