W.M.C.A.A. Competition Levels
Instructional
All Instructional Courses will have an "instructional" emphasis. This means that the main goal of the course is to teach and give everyone a fair amount of playing time.
Recreational
Sports that are classified as "Recreational" are usually teams that will "play for fun". This is the lowest level of competition for team sports.
All players that participate in practice and reflect a good attitude will be expected to get a fair amount of play as defined by the the sport (typically a minimum of 1/2 the game as permitted by number of players).
All players may not get to play every position, however, the goal of a Recreational sport is to allow all the kids to have fun.
Semi-Competitive
Sports that are classified as "Semi-Competitive" are usually teams that will "play for fun" but also make an attempt to compete with the teams that they are playing against. This level is a competitive team sport with an emphasis on playing hard to the best of their abilities.
All players that participate in practice and reflect a good attitude will be expected to get a chance to play although it may be somewhat limited based on skills and abilities. All players will not necessarily get equal playing time.
Competitive
Sports that are classified as "Competitive" are teams that are attempting to be competitive at the same level of teams that they are playing against. This level is a Team Sport that will STILL focus on teaching Godly principles but will also focus on being competitive.
All players that participate in practice and reflect a good attitude will be expected to some amount of time based on their skills and abilities. All players will not get equal playing time. Players that are not consistent in practice or do not demonstrate the desired attitude of the coach are not required to receive any game play. Players that do not play up to the level of the competition also are not required to receive game play.
